Past Transactions at the Waterford Group

 

  • Identification and acquisition of Siberian oil assets. Restructuring and public listing of Dana Petroleum Plc on the London Stock Exchange together with the completion of the successful equity fundraising rounds.
  • Sale of the minority of the interest of the Russian Companies with significant oil reserves to Dana Petroleum plc.
  • Purchase of a controlling interest and management control of Nobel Resources Plc, Ireland.
  • Financial restructuring of Vanguard Petroleum and its assets (over $25m), acquiring the managerial control and the completion of $10m equity fundraising to enable the completion of the restructuring.
  • Incorporation of the investment group, that secured 12.5% of the working interest in major offshore PSA, Azerbaijan (other participants BP, Lasmo (Monument) & SOCAR). The interest was later sold to Royal Dutch Shell Plc.
  • Facilitated acquisition of the 35% shareholding in Vankor Project, which was later sold to Rosneft.
  • Facilitated acquisition of 29.9% shareholding in Anglo Siberian Oil Company Plc. In April 2003, Waterford completed yet another successful exit by selling its shares to Rosneft International. Rosneft currently evaluates the acquired asset at $5bn.

 

  • Facilitated structuring of the early investment and acquisition of 10% shareholding in First Calgary Petroleum Ltd (“FCP”). FCP used to be one of the largest Canadian independents and listed on AIM in London. In October 2008 FCP was acquired by Italian oil and gas major ENI in a deal worth USD 923 million.
  • Restructuring and acquisition of 30% shares in Emerald Energy Plc (“Emerald”), LSE full list company with assets in Colombia. Emerald was sold to Sinochem Corporation in 2009 for USD 850mln.
  • Structuring and acquisition of 35% in Thistle Mining Corporation, Toronto and AIM (the publicly listed gold mining company with South African and Philippines assets). As a result of several transactions, the assets were sold to CGX Gold and Pomodzi Gold.
  • Structuring and acquisition of 25% of Federovsky exploration block in Kazakhstan. Our partners on this project were MOL plc, Hungary and Chinese National Company. Waterford sold its stake in the block in 2011 to KazMunaiGas Exploration Production (Kazakh National Oil Company).
  • Acquisition of 25% of South Karpovsky exploration block in Kazakhstan. The other partner is the Korean National Oil Company. Waterford later sold its stake in the block.
